Our story
The current SeaPack Group has merged SeaPack Oy and Sauplast Oy under the same name. Sauplast was founded in 1983, and the company has operated in the current production facilities in Siikainen throughout that time. The history of the production plant in Merikarvia goes back to the renowned Rosenlew industrial family, and the factory was founded in 1974. The Merikarvia factory has operated under the name SeaPack Oy for a long time. Through an acquisition, a third production plant in Kokemäki joined the company in 2014. The more than 50-year history of the companies and production facilities includes a wide range of acquisitions and arrangements, but since 2020, both companies have been in the same family-owned company, which is entirely domestic.

Sustainability with SeaPack
0% plastic waste in our production
In Merikarvia, we have our own plastic recycling equipment, which ensures that no waste plastic or scrap is generated in our production. All production side streams and plastic surplus are thus recycled through the system back into raw material, i.e., granulate.

We are a member of the producer organization Suomen Pakkaustuottajat Oy
Suomen Pakkaustuottajat Oy is a non-profit organization responsible for the collection and recycling of carton and paper packaging, glass packaging, metal packaging, plastic packaging, and wooden packaging in Finland.
Producer Responsibility – Rinki and SPT
We are a producer responsibility member of Suomen Pakkaustuottajat Oy, through which we manage packaging recycling fees. Rinki Ltd, established and owned by Finnish industry and trade, is responsible for providing sorting guidance and maintaining the eco-point network.
Domestic manufacturer
Domestic plastic processing is important for our economy, as it creates jobs and supports the local economy. In addition, local production allows for faster deliveries and better quality control, which increases trust and reduces environmental impact. We also believe that industrial manufacturing in Finland is at the top level in the world when it comes to safety and the environment. Expertise and manufacturing in Finland must be cherished, instead of similar products being manufactured elsewhere under looser conditions, and emissions from logistics increased.
The plastics industry employs more than 10,000 people in small and medium-sized enterprises in Finland.
The SeaPack Group consists of 3 factories that employ a total of about 80 people in small municipalities – Merikarvia, Siikainen and Kokemäki. We hope that in the future, we will be able to offer jobs to more and more people in Satakunta county.
